- Realize why these doubts rise up. You have a speech to give today and your nervous. Ask yourself why you feel this? It will answer. Could say “haven’t prepared” or “can’t speak in front of people”. Then keep asking, “why am I afraid of speaking in front of people” Again another answer. Keep doing this till the lowest common denominator. That is the source of the doubt. Now that you know it you can destroy it. Note: There’s a difference between “butterflies” and doubt. Adrenaline is great, let it flow. Don’t believe its anxiety, its energy.
- Cross the bridge. Congrats you have an interview with Apple today. You get up, eat some Cheerios (of course) and start to head over to the interview. “I can’t do this” you say. Remember the bridge? Confidence is just the bridge to your inner-self to the outside world. During this interview they want to get to know YOU. Not the doubting voice you. That’s why alcohol is such a strong social lubricant. It brings everyone out of their heads into the present moment along with their (mostly) true selves. When faced with this take deep breaths with your diaphragm (not lungs, this pushes out your stomach when you breath with it). Clean oxygen does wonders for the heart rate. Then smile, its proven smiling shoots off dopamine and doubt can’t be around happy.
- Say your too scared to approach that hottie? You’re only afraid because you keep telling yourself you are. Whoa did that just blow your mind too?
- Prepare. If you’ve done all the work why worry? Just do it like Nike. Remember, foresight teaches gently, error teaches brutally. Plan ahead.
