One of the greatest characters ever on television, Ari Gold completely took over the Entourage show and was a key component in it's success. This is the first in a series of ways you can learn a lot about business and life through this series. Let's get one thing clear, Ari Gold was not just a boss, he was THE boss. He was the lovable ahole that was just so entertaining to watch. But what is better if we dissect his actions to actually take something away from his best moments on the show. So sit back and let's recap who exactly Ari is in the video below first.
It's going to happen. Sometime or another all your plans will fail. People will let you down and your world can change in an instant. What happens then? What's your first instinct? I don't know if you're the type to run and cower, drink it off, or just lie in sympathy. It can seem as if life is just knocking you down time after time while you are trying your best. It can be tough, I know, it's what I personally am experiencing now. But take heed, there may be a solution to this self pity party after all.
You're laying on the couch and Teen Mom is on TV. You don't even care its just noise because you are procrastinating a task you know has to be done. This could be a number of things such as a paper, home work, cleaning, or maybe it's a goal you want to accomplish. "getting motivated" is huge buzz word in the self help community. It doesn't have to be as complicated as the 'gurus' make it. Here are some practical steps you can do right now to push yourself to action.
You have been lied to. Conned from the day you first set foot upon your college of choice. You believe these four years here will make someone hire you? You know nothing. The game has changed and so have the pieces, the dice, and the players. What worked for your parents will not work now. You think getting a 30 year fixed rate mortgage on a house you don’t need working at a job you hate was the goal of stepping on to this campus? I’m not in this position but I see it all the time. This is why you are living in a man-made fantasy world.
"To fight a bull when you are not scared is nothing. And not to fight a bull when you are scared is nothing. But to fight a bull when you are scared-that is something"- Bullfighter proverb
If you've never noticed, bullfighting is intense. Whither you believe the sport to be ethical or not, you have to admire the courage of these men. I saw a documentary the other day headlining one of the greatest, aging fighters still in the game. What stood out the most was his passion for both the bull and the fight. He felt fear, of course, but he let that emotion sweep over him and embraced it. When you're okay with being afraid, are you still actually afraid?
At some point in college you realize it's dangerous to just coast. You need to be investing in yourself because at some point this blanket of security will end and all you'll be left with is what you have done. Books can be the best way to change your values, world-view, and purpose. I know it's tough to read for fun when the professors assign bogus amounts of uninteresting material. These books however, will actually provide you with some great practical advice that may just change your life. This list will be comprised of non-fiction only. In the next post I'll delve into some great fiction books that carry just as much learning potential.
We take speaking English fluently for granted. Communicating is just so easy and natural for us now. How would it feel to be a immigrant going to school who didn't know English? Last week I met a student-athlete from France. When he came here he could not speak a word of English, yet he graduated with a 3.5GPA... (And you thought learning Spanish was hard! Try taking all your classes in it.) But the point is learning a new language is not near as hard or time consuming as you think. In fact, its natural. Here's how.
Here’s the harsh truth: The world only cares about what you can give it. What do you bring to the table? What type of skills, knowledge, power do you have to carve out a life? If nothing then I can safely bet you're in some deep trouble now. The concept of Lifestyle Design is simple, you create things of value for other people and they in turn help you create your desired life. Seems pretty innovative huh? Not in the least. Although currently Lifestyle Design is used to escape the corporate world it was used to succeed in it. This thought is very old and only recently has hidden behind the curtain of laziness and free lunches. Here’s how.
The Wall Street Journal just publicized a scientifically proven technique you can use to increase your IQ: dual N-back exercises. Andrew Clark from the bulletprofexect.com used this method to increase his IQ by at least 18pts! (Maybe some of our politicians could use this?) This is potentially life changing software. Your brain’s chemical make up is not set in stone. New neuron pathways are forged all the time. Been looking for a way to take more control of your life? This can certainly help and the best part it’s free!

Lies are all around us.
No, I’m not some paranoid conspiracy theorist. I am, however, addicted to knowing the truth.
And guess what? People are lying to you. All day, every day.
TV shows are lying to you. Politicians are lying to you. Music artists are lying to you. Advertisements are lying to you. You’re lying to yourself.
I’m not talking about “lies” in the sense of a whopper story conjured up by an 8-year-old to get out of trouble. I’m talking about the perpetuation of myths.
