Make an ally on your first day
It doesn't matter if you like them or not. The game is not about liking them, it's about them liking you. Making contact with that awkward philosophy professor should be your number one priority on the first day of class. Why? HERE'S WHY
- Most of your professors actually like students that take an interest in what their interested in. (Duh, that's why they teach it)
- It sets you apart from the crowd. (I don't care who you are. A professor who knows who you are is less likely to just not give you a second chance if you needed it)
- It makes you at least look like a straight edge student.
- The professor now will recognize your name and this will help later on I PROMISE.
- Just do it already
This is not just a one time case. Almost all the professors I became close with I received a grade higher than what I deserved. Why? Because I took an interest in them and their class. It's been proven in business that if your boss actually likes you, they are much less likely to fire you. More often than not, just being a friendly person is enough to warrant a promotion.
You need to learn this lesson. People are emotional creatures. Yes, some use logic more than others but if you appeal to them emotionally, I promise it can only mean good things for you. Even if it doesn't lead to a better grade, they may be more willing to give you a chance for extra credit.
So, on your next first day of class march down and shake your professors hand and make good eye contact. They'll remember you and you'll remember getting some party favors at end of the semester.
